Feng Shui for Baby: How to Organize Your Nursery

For how small they are, babies sure do have a lot of stuff. Between the booties and bassinets, it can be overwhelming to squeeze it all in a small nursery. Avoid a mommy meltdown— check out this list of tips on how to organize a nursery.

Tip #1: Think minimal.

Before you add your personal touch, make sure your nursery is functional. Visualize the necessities. Do you really need that rocking chair? How will you store baby’s clothes? Cut down on clutter to stay organized.

Tip #2: Use a dresser as a changing table.

Combine a dresser and changing table to save space. Invest in a vinyl-coated changing pad for easy clean-ups. Use a strap or non-skid shelf linter to affix the pad to the top of the dresser. Make sure to anchor the dresser to the wall to prevent it from falling over.

Tip #3: Use the area under the crib.

Baskets are a great way to store items under your crib. If you don’t like the look of baskets or want to store larger items, use a crib skirt to mask the messiness.

Tip #4: Try storage bins.

Invest in drawer organizers with removable storage bins. These are handy for getting toys out and quick cleaning. You can also swap out bins if and when you decide to change your nursery theme.

Tip #5: Save closet space.

Between hand-me-downs and baby shower surprises, you’re bound to have some extra outfits. Use closet dividers marked with sizes to help you keep track of outfits your baby hasn’t grown into yet. You can use an over-the-door shoe organizer to store smaller items—such as bibs, pacifiers and toys.

There’s a lot to think about when preparing a nursery for your little one. If you use these tips, you’ll be well on your way to having the organized nursery of your dreams.
